This gold ring was created for my client who had an existing ring in a vine-like design. My client had seen and liked the Contours ring with hand engraving, made from silver with 18ct gold detail. She wanted to echo the vine motif in the new ring while keeping the contrasting metals, matte surface and bright cut engraving of the Contours ring design.
For the vine motif, I was inspired by On Art And Life by John Ruskin, with embossed cover artwork by David Pearson for Penguin Books, as part of their Great Ideas series.
I soldered a white gold flower shape to the 18ct yellow gold band, which was then shaped into a ring and soldered, before applying a matte finish. The ring was then hand engraved, also called bright-cut engraving and I particularly love the contrast between the matte gold and the shiny engraved highlights.
If you're inspired to create your own unique variation of this vine design gold ring, just drop me a line at clara@clarabreen.com or give me a call on +44(0)7855 696 277.
