About my making

Paper and precious jewellery

Found paper is a recurring material in my creative practice: I cut, layer and manipulate fragments of maps, receipts and leaflets to include them within precious jewellery.

The significance of these fragments of paper lies in their very existence: they are tangible remains of fragments of time.

However banal the moment when I picked up this map, that receipt – I am made of every one of these moments. Layered together, they are like geological strata of tiny moments.

These fragments of time are held within the resulting paper jewellery: only the wearer knows what’s contained inside.

Geological strata are the visual inspiration for the precious ‘Strata’ pieces.
